Security functions

Conﬁguring the ﬁngerprint sensor

The ﬁngerprint sensor is able to record the image of a ﬁngerprint. With additional ﬁngerprint

software, th is image can then be processed and used instead of a password.

This function is used to authenticate information on the characteristics of a ﬁngerprint

image. For this reason, users whose ﬁngerprints have insufﬁcient characteristic

information may not be able to use ﬁngerprint authentication.

To register a ﬁngerprint, the ﬁnger must be scanned at least three

times. Use the same ﬁ nger for registration.

To register your ﬁngerp

rint or to authenticate yourself, proceed as follows:

► Select All Apps and tou

ch Settings.

► Select Security and then Fing e rprin t Settings.

► Align the top knuckl

gently against the

sensor and pull it vertically over the entire sensor.

If the ﬁnger is moved too quickly or too slowly, the ﬁngerprint ca nnot be detected correctly.

Registration/authentication of the thumbprint may be difﬁcult, as the centre of the ﬁngerprint

coil pattern may not be centred or may be distorted. When scanning your thumbprint, ensure

that the centre of the coil pattern is in the c entre of the ﬁngerprint sensor.

If the ﬁngerprint i s not scanned correctly, a warning me ssage will be displayed.

If there is already a ﬁnger on the sensor at the start of the ﬁngerprint registration or authentication

process, activation may not be available. Remove the ﬁnge r from the ﬁngerprint sensor and try again.

If the Tablet PC is connected via USB to a device that requires earth ing, such as a desktop

PC, ensure that the device has already been earthed. If the device is not earthed, ﬁngerprint

authentication may not be available. In this case, carry out ﬁngerprint authentication while touching

a metal part (frame, socket, etc.) of the connected device, or disconnect the device.
